Tribute to Ronnie

Dec 31, 2013 – I was searching and found my a rough copy of the tribute that I read out to Ronnie in 2008.

Ronnie. RonStars. Pomaron. I hope someone could fill me in on the definition of the “Pomaron” name. Yesterday, when Mindy couldn’t remember, it drove me nuts trying to find out. I got to the point where I Started seaching google to find out what his name meant. I know he had a photography website he was working on, and found out that when he was 16, he made his own website already and you should definitely check it out later! He looked so young. In his profile it said “WAAAA Very Berry Handsome,” and he was pretty good looking, I must admit. Charming too if I might add. I’m sure you would allll agree.

I will always remember Ronnie as a well mannered and outgoing guy even though i’ve only known him for 5 years, but even 10+ years ago reading his website, he was so excited about people reading his updates. He always put others in front of his schedule regardless if he had to work the next morning or had an exam.

He was always down for bbt, going for eats and well this year anyways, playing rockband anytime. He’d come over for rockband at least twice a week or pretty much the evenings that we were both free.

Anytime I had a bad day, he’d insist on going out to eat… time pending… because Original Joes was closed at 2am and we do agree Edmonton is pretty boring compared to Calgary, but the only thing we have ever disagreed on was the Flames and Oilers. Other than that, I have been fortunate to have been able to be apart of his life and leave him alone on a high note.

Anyways, at the beginning of this year, we even convinced one another to purchase a SLR camera because we both love photography. I normally don’t talk terribly too much in general, but when it comes to photography and taking pictures and editing them, I really feel I am able to express myself. He was like a sifu and I Was his student. His encouragement and enthusiasm in everything especially photography was the reason why I Was able to take 6000 pictures in a span of 3 weeks when going to the Beijing Olympics. Although we planend to go to the mountains this exact day, I was still able to get up at 5 in the morning to drive down to Kananaskis and take another few hundred more. I know his passion has also engulfed Sam and Mindy in getting a SLR camera of their own and for me, all the things we wnated to do with photography, when I actually accomplish it… it’s all cuz of him… Itz all him.

He was a true friend and I count myself blessed to have known him.

Wilmer’s rough copy.
